Default my new kickin' round town bike

i'm trying to ride my bike more around town but between the awful drivers and the potholes of glorious LA, I don't always feel safe riding on my roadbike. I felt very vulnerable, so I had the guys at Hollywood Pro bikes build me up a bike. It was the first time I've had a bike made up just for me and it was a ton of fun to do the research and hand pick the parts, etc. The bike shop did a great job and Scott kept me in the loop the whole time. The best part is the bike came out exactly like I saw it in my head and it rides like a dream. Super sturdy and a real looker, if i do say so myself.

here's some pics.

The Brooks saddle and grips really set it off. Very nice.

How do you like that Brooks so far? I'm collecting parts and don't know if I want that one of the B17 style.

Clean looking rig.

Default the brooks saddle

it's great. i had the women's b-17 on my LeMond road bike and had to sell it on ebay as it was extreeeeemely unkind to me. This one is the flyer and between the springs and the build of the bike (which puts me much more upright than on my roadbike) it has been totally comfortable.

the handlebar grips are not actually Brooks. The Brooks grips are just wrapped rawhide which i'm not crazy about and the leather Brooks tape is $75 which is nuts. so i bought these from Bikeman.com for $12 and they feel great.

that's gorgeous! i was thinking about something along those lines to put the cell phone/keys etc. in, but then i'd have to take it off everytime i locked the bike up, cuz you know someone would snatch that thing in no time as soon as my back was turned...

I love the leathery bits. Nice build. If you are brave check out this old thread on MTBR about butchering a Brooks saddle. I just got mine in the other day and if I get time this weekend I'm going to make my B-17swallow.

Or maybe some of these bags

A Bee-You-Tiff-Full bike

Welcome to Surlydom. I've had my Surly for a while now and I love that bike. I got tired of always fixing one thing or another on my geared mtb's so I got to doing some research and decided to build a bike that would not nickle and dime me to death. I picked the Surly and haven't spent 25 dollars on it since I bought it over 3 year ago. Not the lightest of bikes but very well built and a very compliant ride. Now the Brooks on the other hand, is something I haven't got around to trying. A lot of my roadie buds are sporting them and swear by them, but I'm in no hurry to go there.
