Default I'm not a fan

of Thanksgiving. It's never been my favorite holiday. But this Thanksgiving, I am really thankful that my mom survived a solo car roll-over coming to visit me for another Thanksgiving I was not looking forward too. It happened Monday around 4pm on the 405 North. I'll skip the details and post the pics. She came away with a fractured c7 and her pain is minimal. Regular muscle soreness. Her 3 dogs survived with no injuries in spite of Billie being tossed from the car and running AWAYfrom the freeway and into a ditch where a good samaritan caught him. About 5 to 6 people stopped to help and Orange county animal reg. waited for me off the freeway at a Circle K for 45 minutes with my moms dogs so I could get them so they wouldnt spend the night in the shelter! Thanks, Officer Oliveras! In spite of my moms injuries and the 3 to 8 month healing time, I am really happy she is here and I am really looking forward to Thursday even though we may have turkey soup or Koo-Koo-Roo or something because we are all too burned out to even think of cooking. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS!!
Liz

Isn't that what Boston Market is for?

Thankfully you're Mom will be okay and next thanksgiving you'll all have another interesting story to tell around the Thanksgiving day dinner table.

Wishing your mom a thorough and speedy recovery,
george

So glad your mom is *okay*.

Oh man...this brought back flashbacks of two years ago for me. Dan and I went to Ensenada over Thanksgiving for a race. We had no cell service. I got back across the border Sunday night and had a ton of voicemails (which never happens). I knew something was wrong. My mom and sister, the day after Thanksgiving, were in a very, very bad accident. Sis had a shattered pelvis, lacerated liver, etc. Had to be extricated by Jaws of Life. Mom had a messed up shoulder.

Needless to say, I am 3000 miles away on the other coast so there was nothing I could do.

They are both okay now.

It's good that you have your mom there, close by, so you can take care of her.

wow, glad to hear that turned out as well as it did. Looks pretty ugly in those pics.

I like Thanksgiving myself. Even with all the crap I feel is going on in this country right now I could think of no other place I would rather be. For that I'm thankfull.

Very happy to hear that damage is "minor" considering the accident. I hope your mother recovers quickly.

Whiskey and Chicken soup heals everything.

Liz - glad your Mother is okay (as she can be) and the doggies too. It's always a nice surprise when others are selfless for perfect strangers.

This is a great Thanksgiving for you, your mother, & the doggies!

Perfect words. Glad you Mom is OK - that's a mighty comfy looking couch. It's just amazing how our pets can get tossed around and come out just fine. I bet they sleep next to "Mom" for the next few nights.
