Anyone ever look at the similar bikes tried on mtbr?
I went to every MFG and found that all of them have tried everything but the Chumba. This applies to all models from XC to free ride to DH. Then when you look at the Reviews on the Chumbas they have tried everything from Turner to Intense to Elsworth to Foes. So does that mean that everyone who tried a Chumba has to have one? And everyone who owns one of the other bikes just haven't tried a Chumba yet? ![]() Take a look don't take my word for it. I just researched it. I just wanted to see what bikes our customers are coming off of. Just for fun. Then I went from mfg to mfg to see what they tried before they purchased the bike they own. I am happy with the results. ![]() |

I tend to read alot of reviews and really trust MBR magazines reviews. Get alot of info, get some opinions altho take them with a pinch of salt and try before you buy.

I am no basher and I have owned many different brands of bikes and still have a couple of brands.
I just want any flamers to know I am only pointing out facts. So keep your pants on. ![]() ![]() I just know I have to say this before the fancy walkers have to spout out anything silly. ![]() Quote:

everyone has a biased...
Chumba is doing good though, a guy stopped by to get one on last Saturday at Adrenaline. I feel Chumba as a company has to be out a little longer before people start to REALLY take notice. I hated Iron Horse for a while... but after some time and a good amount of reading, I dont hate them so much anymore. the Sunday is a puurdy bike though, but I rather have an F5 because they look cooler. Yep they're good bikes for sure!
But I tried an XCL extensively and ended up buying something else, and paying more for it... I really wanted the XCL but wanted more travel, the Evo is nice, but didn't exactly make me want it. How about a 6.5" version of the XCL? With a 12mm rear axle, replaceable dropouts, 1.5" outer diameter headtube, 1 1/8" inner diameter and ISCG chainguide tabs?...or maybe that's what you guys got planned with the 777? If so, I want one! |

basically a bigger version of the XCL maybe even a little more slack and I'd be all over it! 6.5? why not 7" or 7.77? ![]()

The new Evo will have more travel and will weigh less.
the 777 will have 7.7 inches of smooth travel progressive where needed. I will weigh just under 7 lbs with the ISCG . Possible new looks. ![]() The F5 has many new up grades. 1.5 outer diameter steer tube with 1 1/8 inner diameter along with replaceable d hanger. It will be lighter with a lower center of gravity. One of the lowest CGs in the industry. Along with one of the best leverage ratios in the industry. It will also have a removable ISCG bracket. along with shock options including a ti spring. The XCL will weigh less also and it will have many different models within the XCL line. XCL DJ W ISCG the XCL SL XCL signature model. Hand made in the shop with your name as the serial # along with custom paint. The new 29er will have Reynolds steel tubing will give all other bike on the 29er market some serous competition. We so many things in the works along with many hop ups for the existing models. I will also be working on retro fit kits to make your Chumba whatever you want it to be. I will be talking about STR DISCOUNTS with local dealers to help out fellow riders. And ask around we are all about out local scene . It is out family. Call me if you have any questions. I'm always skeptical about consumer reviews. I'm sure a significant number of reviews are submitted by (direct or indirect) employees of the manufacturers. You can argue about the ethics but it is just good business to do so. Many times people even paraphrase stuff from official marketing literature.
Jason, I think your observation is due to the fact that Chumba is still a relatively small company and it is probably difficult to demo them in most parts of the country. All of the competing companies you mentioned are much larger.

Good observation Jason. Its always nice to see good things about the company you work for. As we all know Turner and Ellsworth grew quickly over the last 6 years. The 5 Spot and the Truth catapulted the companies into a whole new realm of the bike industry. As I recall both companies had some difficulties with each of their bikes. Hopefully Chumba will be able to see this too and learn from the mistakes of other companies!
You rock Jason! Keep it up!!!! ![]()

It kinda looked like a lot of people had other high end bikes and decided to try the Chumba and maybe got hooked.
I could be wrong some people buy things for completely different reasons. Race History or brand name related or even a change from the normal garden variety bike from a corporate store. Remember I am in no way trying to put any other bike MFG down I was just pointing out a fact. ![]() ![]() Quote:

I've found in general, reviews on MTBR are only a starting point to researching a product. Reviews can be skewed by those that absolutely love the product (over other ones they've tried) or those who had problems and are out to trash it. Better reviews provide more detail and pros/cons but are few. A number of products I expected to have reviews have none or aren't even listed.

The new and improved frames and bikes that we have are not even on the reviews. Normally you have to look on the Forums to fund them. Even then you should make sure you are asking about the current new model. That goes for any MFG.

I am open to ride and try any bike. I read reviews before buying anything just so I can compare the results to the real life performance of the product I have bought.
Many times it is accurate. It is easy to tell the B. S.People from the real people on mtbr or any forum by the lack of realistic input. |
