you know its funny, because Neils XCL somehow ended up hanging on the tent for a demo also- luckily he caught it before it would be taken away for a thrashing. haha

I love my XCL! All my crashes have yet to render the bike useless.. although my leg is slowing giving out..

Default Ok

Willies bike is an exception. I made her a custom XCL in sparkle pink. But don't let the color fool ya its all performance.

And no we don't build bikes to be pretty.
We demand performance.
I WAS going to stay on the sidelines..... Before IH offered me 6 figures to represent their bike company there was ONE bike atop my very short list- The EVO!
MANY people know that!!!The reason I don't ride one is not important!

What IS important:
1) Ted has been designing amazing bikes since the early 90's.

2) Whether it be his DJ frame, Slalom, XC, AM, DH (or even his 29'er frame), he is NOT AFRAID to walk down the road less traveled. Appearance, materials used, bracing, pivot locations etc.- all for a reason!

3) They listen!!! Back in the day, CHUMBA was seeking rider input on their products. I was given an EVO on (2) separate occasions. I gave them my BRUTALLY HONEST OPINIONS (as did other people). Guess what? They listened! Early last year, I (along with others) were asked to give our opinions on (what is now) the XCL! Guess what? They listened! Both bikes are much improved because... they listened!

4) Harmonic Vibration.... The EVO eliminates vibration better than ANY frame I have ever ridden. Period! End of story!

5) Plushness.... Let's be serious! Anyone who has ridden the EVO knows how plush it is!

6) Descending.... Very little frame vibration, super plush suspension and sharp handling made for one BORING run down San Juan!

7) Next demo- try one on for size! You may like them. Then again, you may not! Geometry, suspension design, riding style, intended use, weight, available build kits... there are many factors that must be taken into account before one can decide on a new bike!

Would I recommend their bikes to fellow STR members? I'm sorry, I am under contract with a competing manufacturer!

Alright Jason- I did what you asked me to do.... now give me my money!

You also had quite a few beers from what I remember!

Regardless of all this I'm in no financial state to buy another bike. I just thought I'd open my mind a bit outside of my Turner world since it had been awhile since I had ridden a different brand of bike. Guess there is a reason I own 3 Turners

LMAO Alan had like 2 beers and got hammered then went home... haha

Good times... Good people....

If the Evo had more travel I'd probably get one. That frame would be siiick with 8'' of travel. The bike itself makes a lot of sense... Nothing like a giant coil on a strange triangle with a dent.

but to be honest, I'm sure there would be one in my arsenal of bikes somewhere down the road someday.

*paging Dino Brown* I will be trying to figure out how to negative thank you because you somehow managed to say something positive about a competitor! haha

There's always ebay! I'm going to have my Lyrik Coil PUSHed, and throw a CC Double Barrel on the rear, I think that the suspension is going to be unbelievable!

So does that mean that everyone who tried a Chumba has to have one? And everyone who owns one of the other bikes just haven't tried a Chumba yet?

Take a look don't take my word for it. I just researched it.
I just wanted to see what bikes our customers are coming off of. Just for fun.
Then I went from mfg to mfg to see what they tried before they purchased the bike they own.

I am happy with the results.
Jason, one of these days I will try a Chumba... Promise. When I was shopping for a bike I, nor did my riding group really know about Chumba so back in 2006 I purchased a 07 Intense 5.5 on the Tracer "trade in" program. Got to tour their place, they were great to my kid and I got a new baby blue 5.5. When that frame breaks or wears (on me or itself), perhaps Chumba would be the next frame... Who knows.

I do want to thank you for supporting the site and the folks here as well as some of the sponsorship of events, trail work and test rides.

Hey Alan, I know you were saying something about possibly gettin me a demo bike for a week or so. I'd be more than happy to test out an Evo that was more properly set up for me and give another review afterwards. I'm not so hung up on Turner's despite what you guys may believe. I mean just until last month I owned an AS-X and I still have my Cove Stiffee

The Push'd Lyric should be sweet! I've ordered a Push'd RP3 and Push rockers for my 5 Spot. Once I have more money I'll probably get my Pike air into Push as well. Ok, maybe I do like my Turners a little

Default Thanks

I like to help as many people as I can. With so many great bikes out there. I just want to help people get out on the trail. Riding a bike in the mtns gives you a freedom you cant find anywhere else. Well maybe a motorcycle but then you get in trouble.

How about one with trailers painted on it with a custom beer bottle opener on it.
I was also thinking the traditional Pontiac Trans Am paint job would be a great model . I love the vintage hot rod paint job idea.

Hey Rob,

Sweet, I was thinking of getting my PIKE 454 Coil PUSHed also. I seem to blow through the travel pretty fast - which seems to be a common complaint, and the guys at PUSH said they can adjust the compression dampening based on my weight so I'm hoping that could make it ride better - although overall I really like it. But, if I already have a Lyrik U-Turn that can be dialed down to 140mm without changing the preload on it, seems like I might just have the best of both worlds with the Lyrik. Anyway, yea, I'll give you a holler once my PUSHed Lyrik and CCDB come in.
