Way too true...even if you don't have a road bike, throw some slicks on the FSR, lock out the suspension, turn on the i-pod and go hammer.

Ride as much as you can. I am not just talking about on the trail, but on the street around your hood. You can practice drops and tech stuff over and over
again to get comfortable with it and when you take it to the dirt you will have
the confidence to pull the stuff off. On the climbing note...I think that getting
in the right gear before you need to be in that gear helps. I get in an easy gear and try to spin perfect circles... follow a good SSer up a tough climb and
watch them relax and spin.

Yeah, I know the area you are talking about. You can slow down a little before you get to it, give yourself a chance to rest. I usually shift into a taller gear, get out of the saddle and charge it. You'll get it.

i was standing right there on the halloween ride and watched quite a few riders charge that rock face and clear it...i'm at awe...i need to figure out a way to rest up just before that so that i can charge
