Default Emotion bike buying

Don't I want a bike that makes my heart fall when I see a picture of it? When I say it's name, the sun shines brighter and the flowers bloom wider? Do I want a bike based on facts and figures and technical crap I don't get anyway? When I touch it, I'm transported to a gentle mountain breeze and an endless green meadow with deer and bunnies all lazing beside a soft and pure mountain stream! Ssshhh..when you say it's name quietly, it's like praying! yeah, that's my next bike!

please don't tell us it starts with a T and ends with urder.

honestly though, i feel the same when buying a new bike. i build all my own and the whole process is almost spiritual. it is so incredible to see all the pieces and then put it together.

But what happens when you get this feeling with no less than 10 bikes in the shop when you're there? .......I think I'm a bit of a bike whore.

That is so right. All the numbers, specs, suspension mumbo jumbo goes out the door when you ride the right bike for the first time. It is all about the feel. Besides isn't that what we ride for? The feel? Weather it is the feeling of your lungs bursting or hitting the perfect line on that super techy rock garden, or the feeling you get as you and your best buds roll to a stop at the end of great section with smiles as wide the Grand Canyon. Mountain biking is really all about feeling in one way or another.
