Default Garmin madness, and beyond!

Well, I finally broke down, and bought a Garmin Edge 205, and had a question for all of you who own one. How many bought yours online? I found mine on the wonderfull world of Ebay for an extremelly great deal. In fact, cheaper than my cost as a dealer! This got me wondering...and thinking. Why would someone want to pay over $130.00 more to buy one in a retail store, when they can just get one online. Now, being in the industry, I know of several answers to that question, because that question has been asked by Clients in my store. One reason to buy in the store would be the help we give in the setup process, and to help with any warranty issues, because they do have some problems from time to time. Those are honestlly the only answers I can think that are legitimate! But I find myself still going to online retailers from time to time for odds and ends, because heck, who doesn't want to save their hard earned dollars! So, where do you draw the line......what can only be bought at a local store, and what can be bought online?? Thanks for your input, and i'm sure I will have questions about this darn thing!

We both got ours at REI, pretty sure. Paid full price, but I like REI.

...and you probably used a cupon and you're getting 10% back, so, not a hard sell!

I bought a edge 205 from craigs list and I paid 130.00. I wish I would have saved and picked up the 305

What is the difference between the 205 and the 305?

the 305 has a barometric altimeter and the option to add a wireless speed/cadence sensor or HRM. they sell it in a few versions that come with either of the add ons or both.

the 205 relies on the reception of signals from three GPS satellites to calculate altitude. With two signals it can only tell you your coordinates.

HTH.

The 305 is more accurate on altitude. GPS is great for horizontal position but not vertical position.

Someone has to buy them at full price, use them and want to resell them in order for you to be able to get yours at the great price.

We are you guinea pigs - sorta. I also like to have the factory warranty available to me if something goes wrong. Most of the time, they're more than accomidating to help and want you to refer their products to others.
