Default Tahoe trail suggestions

So I'm heading up to tahoe for the week on sunday on what was supposed to be a snowboarding trip...but since it hasn't been snowing, looks like that ain't happening! But now I'm gonna bring the bike along, and I'm looking for some suggestions on trails to hit, people to talk to for suggestions, anything that can point me toward some good riding up there. I've ridden very little up in tahoe but know my way around up there pretty well. I've heard of the Flume trail and Mr. Toad's, but any info would be appreciated!

I've gone from praying for snow to hoping for sun! But riding in snow ain't that bad either...

I'm not very familiar with the area but I rode "Hole in the Ground" this summer and it was an excellent trail. The trail is in Truckee but worth the short drive. It starts near Boreal Ski resort. Single track, Granite boulders, good views, no crowds, super clean single track climbs and descents. Something different than The Flume.

I have spent many days riding Tahoe, in fact I rode it 14 days straight this August. Look at some of my posts from August and you will get some good ride ideas. Be prepared Tahoe can be in the low 20's in the AM this time of the year. Mr. Toads is a great ride but allot of work to get to. Flume is a easy one, especially if you use Flume Bike Shops Mt. Rose shuttle...I doubt they are still running it this late in the season.

I rode Hole In the Ground and found other rides I liked better. We found some excellent rides in South Lake Tahoe. Big Meadow out to Meiss Meadow then back to Dardanelle Lake then down the excellent Christmas Valley Trail back to Big Meadow is a hard to beat. Heavenly Valley North acroos the Tahoe Rim Trail that goes through Star Lake ending on Mr. Toads is also excellent, but you need shuttle support. I like riding Tahoe with point to point shuttle support, putting loops together envolves some big miles. 15-20 miles on Tahoes tough trails and altitude is a good ride.

Pic is Dardanelle Lake.

I'll second the recommendation for Hole in the Ground. I only spent a week in Tahoe w/ Pops Steppie & Co., but HITG was the highlight for me, hands down.

You'll really want to keep an eye on the forecast for that ride, though--you're both up and out there a good bit.

Also, you'll be very near the infamous Donner Pass. So if you're riding with others and the snow starts to fly, watch your back!
