Hey everyone. I'm having a bike built up and I'm trying to make a huge decision. We're talkin' HUGER than a potential nuke fight with Iran! We're talkin' BIGGER than our deficit! We're talkin' more GARGANTUAN than Pamela Anderson's boobies!

Should I get black spokes or silver on my new wheelset?

The rims are black Stan's and the hubs are the extremely high polished White Industry hubs. i'm thinking the black will make the hubs pop more since silver spokes can't come anywhere close to the brightness of the hubs. Opinions please...

I'm a car nut so yeah, I like those deep dish rims with black outter lips and polished in the center. That would look pretty tight on a bike IMO.

wow that's a tough decision. black rim and polished hub. tradition would say silver spokes, but i like the idea of black to make the hubs pop even more.

what color are your stem and post? that might determine the route. how stealth or bling you want this bike?

thank god someone understands my predicament!
my original idea was not to go stealth but rather take the less followed path (aesthetically at least). the bike is red and i noticed that everyone tends to go with black components because black and red go together. but i think red and silver looks really cool and doesn't get the attention it deserves. so everything on the bike, with the exception of the seat and the tires/spokes is polished silver. so the black spokes really threw me for a loop when i started thinking about them. they weren't what i imagined but the problem is that silver spokes look kinda anemic next to the polished hubs and those hubs are a dang delicious work of art so i'm thinking the black spokes would serve as the proper 'spotlight' to show off the art.

i did. she told me to go with gingham and a 450 thread count egyptian cotton. and i was all, "thanks martha. whatev.".

but if u must be different from everyone out there (the way of the roadie) than why just not go for some custom I9s and get that big pIMp custom colors they got!! now that will get ya some attention and prob some MILF #'s

I ended up with that lacing on one of my wheels only because they didn't have silver in the size I needed. To tell you the truth it doesn't look all that great. You hardly notice it.

Black. There are two reasons for colored spokes:

1. you have I9's in pink or rasta
2. you have extremely pricey Mavic rims with the red spoke.

fan myself. However once I had a wheelset that was all Silver (hubs spokes wheels)...looked trick
