For those who don't know, Mountain Bike legend and sweetheart Tara Llanes was injured in a racing accident at the beginning of September, resulting in what is hoped to be a temporary paralysis. A fund has been set up to help in her rehabilitation, and this year's Tour de Tryptophan is a benefit for the Tara Llanes Road to Recovery Fund. [/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT] [FONT=Verdana][SIZE=1][FONT=Verdana]From high-noon on Friday the 23rd of November until high-noon on Saturday, riders from far and wide will be donating to the cause and doing fun laps on the legendary Fullerton Loop in Fullerton, California.[/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana][SIZE=1][FONT=Verdana]The Fullerton Loop is an 11-mile network of suburban trails that pass through city parks, horse trails, hidden pathways and creekside wilderness. Originally pieced together by Richard Cunningham of Mantis Bikes and Mountain Bike Action fame in 1983, hundreds of people ride and train on the famed loop every week. [/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana][SIZE=1][FONT=Verdana]One of the people that has graced the loop is the inimatable Tara Llanes, and many riders are getting stoked to help her cause this Thanksgiving weekend.[/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT]

You can show up at any time to donate $40 and receive the Conmemorativo T-Shirt. When the original order of shirts runs out, we will print more as needed. [/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT]

We received some flyers at the shop yesterday, we will be there to ride and help out...gathering up some schwag to help the raffle.
I think Maddie will be making her Loop debut that day, should be a great time for a great cause!

Just got this link in an email: Tara Llanes Interview.

As the weights clanked around her, Llanes smiled. "This, this gym, is my element. I love it here," she said.

Her mother sees the spirit in her daughter's eyes. "She's always been determined, but she's even more so now, just because its a bigger challenge."

And it is a challenge Llanes accepts, while inspiring others - to ride, run, walk - or simply do. "I can't wait to ride again," she said.

She lives that every day - and her friends are there to help.

I am hearing back from various industry and vendor folks and so far Maxxis, Nite Rider, Motor Tabs, 661, Azonic and Yeti Cycles will be sending in stuff for the auction!
Very cool to see the responses so far!

We weren't planning on being anywhere near Fullerton that weekend, but I may try to convince Justin to head over. We donated around $60 at Interbike, but maybe one of us will get the tee. That news video was sad. But, cool to see how hard she is willing to work.

Yeah, it was sad. But inspirational. I don't think she's trying to be inspirational. She's just driven to walk and ride again. But she is anyways.
