Default Clipping in

Alright, can we, as a group, make a decision right now! I'm fed up with this clipless talk, here are your choices for riding:
  1. Platorms
  2. CLIPS (like shimano, etc.), henceforth never to be called 'clipless' again
  3. and strap-ons (like back in the day when I used to ride road, I wore strap-ons because we didn't have clips yet)
I'm fed up with people calling them clipLESS! I can't see why the biking community can't figure this out

Ok, rant over, please enjoy your regular broadcast

Got it. I thought strap-on referred to the actual strap...

How about we just keep it simple and call them "Toe Clips"?

there are still no clips on my spd's. they do have cleats however. seems clipless makes more sense than clips.

i have platforms on my dh bike and clipless pedals on my giant AC
hahahaha
joking
but i dont see why it matters, clips or clipless pedals would be pedals you clip in to, and PLATFORM, are like platform pedals so i think the mountain biking pepople know what theyre talking about no matter what they are called

You go from toe clips and straps to clicking into clipless.

How about a poll?

Any of you youngsters remember that there were "cleated" cycling shoes for use with toe-clips and straps? This was LONG before these sissy clippless pedals were invented. Talk about getting stuck while clipped in.... Your feet were strapped tightly to the pedals, the cleat kept you from pulling your feet out the back, and you couldn't even reach the buckle unless you were at the top of your pedal stroke. You were REALLY Friggin' cool if you could track stand at a stop light with those. The penalty for failure was extreme embarrassment in traffic accompanied by a little road rash.

Many a downed rider was seen gesturing for motorists to just run me, errr, him over to put me (dangit!!) HIM out of his misery.

I didn't have the cleats, but I did try to do the track stand at stop signs and lights with the straps, and a couple times fell onto my side...except it always felt like I was falling in slow motion..."noooooooooooo" plunk!

We could call 'em CLICK pedals since they all make that little noise when you lock your shoes in.

Or we could call them "OOF" pedals because that's the noise you make when you tip over.
