Default Suspension

I was wondering! For those of you who really understand suspension, what is the difference between slow speed rebound/compression and high speed???? How do you know if you have it set right?

You can basically think of slow speed compression as a way to control brake dive and bobbing when climbing. The higher you set the compression the less bobbing and less brake dive you will get. However too much low speed compression will take away from small bump sensitivity. Rebound just set as fast as you can without feeling like you are going to get bucked off the bike. Too much rebound dampening and the shock/fork will not be able to recover quick enough for the next bump (at high speeds) and feel harsh due to it "packing up". That's all I feel like typing, someone else I'm sure can get more indepth but I'm hungry now.

Compression damping: controls the speed at which your suspension compresses.

Rebound damping: controls the speed at which your suspension extends from the compressed state.

You dont need any of it, drain out the oil, remove the damping cartridge and fill your fork with saw dust for the ride of your life!!

Thanks for the info. I understand what compression and rebound are, but need some schooling in the finer points of suspension tuning and nomenclature.
