JensonUSA is my LBS. Luis and Brandon (B-Rad) have always been very helpful and they are both very knowledgable. Rudy is a great guy who always stops to say "hi" in the store and on the trail. I can check inventory online before I get there and I can bargan shop by price matching before I even leave my house.
If I'm out and about, I stop at Incycle. They've helped me out a few times with my tack bike. They also have lots of bikes to look at. Competitive Edge sucks!!! When I first moved out here, they were my LBS and I didn't know any better. It was also a different store back then. Now when I go in there, the shop is empty. The bikes are low end and the guys working there have no idea what they are talking about. Don't get me wrong, I picked up a hanger there when I needed one, but the guy at the front told me I needed to talk to the guy who knew "anything". I waited 20 minutes for him to get off the phone with his wife. ![]()

I've been to Jenson, Corona twice now and both times they have been extremely helpful. The store feels like a cross between a Performance and a Local Bike Shop. The prices are good like Performance, but they had higher quality parts on the shelves. I.e. Many types of Rotors when performance stocks only Aztec brand.
I especially like being able to check stock & prices online before I go to the shop. Finally, I just placed an order online using the link from STR. I paid for ground shipping at noon yesterday and found the package at my door at noon today. |

That's common knowledge for all but newbies. It's a shame.

I frequent both JensonUSA stores and they are both outstanding. Luis, Mike, Will and the rest of the gang are great. Good service, lots of helpful tips and trail advice, and just nice people to talk to. They are very helpful with newbie questions and none of the employees are arrogant or bring an attitude. Service is quick and reasonably priced.
Pricing on parts is great and they readily price match. The employees don't work on commission, so there is no pressure to buy.

And they got a bunch of good riders.

I was disappointed with the Ontario store when they charged me $25 to install the $40 headset I had just purchased from them. My LBS charges me $10 and it's free if I just bought the headset from them.
But, yes the prices are good and the selection is good. ~R |

Gotta respect a mechanic, his skill and his tools. A few years ago it was common to just throw in labor, as times are tighter each year you gotta hold on to some profit to stay around. charging labor is the easiest way to do it. Jenson's a great shop.

And considering the profit on a $40 headset, they're not making much money off of you. And to also throw in the cost to pay someone to install it, along with the liability (if there is a problem with the installation, you'd come back expecting it to be fixed), it makes perfect sense that they'd charge you for the install. Had you also bought the frame and fork, I'm sure they would have worked with you.
Buy your own tools and learn to do the jobs yourself. But don't expect shops to have much sympathy when you screw something up.
