they rebuild my Minute 2 fork a couple summers ago and it's still working great. I didn't have them do anything special, just clean/lube/seals... I've heard good work about them before...have you searched on the site yet?

my buddy had a not so good experience there when he took his pike in for service...they had it for a couple weeks and when he came into inquire they hadnt done anything and then they tried to tell him that his fork is toast and he shoudld buy one of their rebuilt ones on the shelf.
He said they were busy building wheels for crank bros so they probably didnt want to take on more work at the time.

Tracy from Garageworks works as a mechanic at THE BIKE Co. Wednesday- thru- Friday. HE does ALL our fork rebuilds and does excellent work. He is at Garageworks Monday and Tuesday.

I had my Lyrik rebuilt there and they did a great job, and it was done when they said it would be done. They are a small shop and get pretty busy, but if you want your stuff done right and to perform the way you asked them to make perform the first time, this is the place to go. I know Steve pretty well and he is a stand up guy, and is very passionate about what he does. I give them 2 thumbs up!

They rebuilt my 2006 Zoke sl on time and no problems. Tracy is a excellent mech I know him from when he worked at Rainbow Bikes in Laguna.

This is a mixed review thread. I have used garage works for shock and fork repair for the last few years and basically they do nice work. With that said, you can't depend on them. It took me two trips each time to pick up two different forks. This is after they called and told me that it was ready. They are not open during the published business hours. They are supposed to be open from 12-6. I showed up once at 12:25- not open. Later I called and confirmed that they would be open the next day during business hours, explained that it was inconvenient for me to travel to the shop and wanted to be sure they would be open. the person on the phone was insulted that I would even ask the question, assured me they would be open. At 1:15 they were NOT OPEN again. This pissed me off. I tried repeatedly to phone Steve, the owner. He is never there and the staff cannot tell you when he will be in. No wonder.
Bottom line, good fork/shock work but when it takes two or more trips to get your stuff Forget it! |

Their shop hours could use some work, but how would you rate their turn-around time? Just wondering if they're committed to their six day estimate. Thanks.

The turn around is ok, and they offer an expedited schedule for a tidy fee if you are in a hurry. They stock all of the parts so they don't usually have to wait and it is pretty much done when they say. Out of 5 shocks/fork rebuilds they only had to redo one for quality errors when they failed to remove a burr inside the shock chamber.
Pricing seems to be about the same as what you would pay for a factory rebuild. That is probably how I will go in the future. Takes a little longer since it has to be shipped back and forth but 100% quality and you know you can get it when its done. |

Any recent updates on this shop? I'm thinking of dropping off all shocks for a rebuild, so I'm wondering what the turn-around time is like. I've tried calling a few times, but no one has answered, and I stopped by last week and waited for about 15min. after the posted shop opening hour, but they were still closed. I'd rather keep it local since i'm hoping that the ETA will be sooner than sending it back to the mfg or push, but if their business practice is similar to what I've experienced then i'd opt to go the other way. Thank you.

Ok, it's probably time I do a review on the place. Maybe their fork service is better than their shock service? They did quote me a six-day ETA which ended up being 15 days. I brought the shock in flawless externally and they gave it back with scratches on the shock body and coil from whatever tool they used to re-install the spring. Next time I'll just use Push.

I just had my wifes Marzocchi Z1 Freeride fork worked on by the shop and I must say that it seems like they didn't do anything.
I picked up the fork from ebay to replace a R.S. Psylo. The main reason for the fork swap was that the Psylo had the U-turn travel adjust and the Marzocchi has the Eta to adjust the fork height on the fly, great for her for climbing. Well I took the fork on down to the shop on a Tuesday @ Noon when they open and told the tech that we were having issues with the eta and I didn't know if it was just not dialed in for Marias weight or if there was an issue with the eta. Long story short they charged me a rush fee got it back the next day and the fork was in the same condition as when I took it in, looks like the swapped out seals and changed the oil. When I told them this I was told they would take care of it. Went back down on Friday with my wife and they had her sooooo bamboozeled she just took the bike, eta still doesn't work and now I paid to have a job done that wasn't done and she is taking her bike to Bend for Dirt series on a fork that should be working correctly but doesn't. |

Great place to go .They have done my 5th element , revalation and fox vanilla. Never had problems with any work. I beleive the owner worked with the development of Rockshock.
