Are you guys lookin for a BJ and a reach around upon entrance of the Path???
Walk in, ask for help, buy sompin, and leave.. Its a bike shop. When they ask you if you needed help did you want them to ask you out to dinner so you could feel more like their friend or the in crowd(is there an in crowd?)? I just don't get walking in and waiting around for help. Its OK to ask for help right when you walk in...

That's YOU!?

I thought that was one of the guys they keep in the back room to provide "service(s)" to the female customers...

In other news I bought a whole crapload of stuff at the Path about 2 months ago...Tani is the man! He personally helped me pick out a grip of parts and a shock.

That's the best post that I have seen on this subject to date.

I have been in The Path once, just to see what everyone was talking about. I am one of those customers that don't like being bothered until I am ready. I must say that while not immediately acosted at the door, after a couple of minutes more than one employee asked if I was doing ok. I eventually wandered over to the wall, and while checking it out one of the guys came up and asked if I needed help. Turns out that it was the Tani (sp). I didn't find that out until I was checking out STR later, but I thought that it was cool though.

I forgot to add that it was rather busy too.

As much as people talk about the place on here, it seems to be a cult following with them, so I must imagine that it is normally pretty busy there. I must admit that I was impress by the sheer volume of inventory crammed into such a small store.

You are there to buy parts, bikes, accessories, etc; and they are there to do business. So don't expect them to hold your hand all day. Get in get out.

The Path is a great shop they built my Epiphany and i would trust them to do it again. (Mondo you rule.) however for day to day maintenance. ive found they just don't have time to fix it while you wait (typically my situation). I use a local shop close to me ( the pedal smith ) but i still revere the path. and credit them for helping me make the right choice in bike for me.

Thanks for the props. Mondo has moved on, but he is still local and a freind of the shop. We sometimes do have time to fix your bike while you wait, every day is different. Feel free to contact me if you want to see if we have time in our schedule for what we call on the fly repairs.

Thanks

I concur with majority of the reviews here on The Path.........having worked with/and in the consumer sector, I'm ultra critical when it comes to service. I started shopping there a little over a year ago. From day one, Tani and the crew exceeded my expectations in taking care of my needs and further feeding my addiction. Recommendations have always been in my best interest, rather than what will boost their top-line numbers. Even though, The Path is over 50 miles away, I consider it my LBS. I'd rather suck up and sit in traffic than give the two bigger shops in Santa Monica any business. You OC people are lucky to have several great options for bike shops!

No business is perfect. If any of you didn't have a great experience there, give them another try. Go and talk to Tani......he'll do his best to accommodate your needs.

Well said, I have never lived closer than 20 miles away to the Path and currently live 30 miles away...still, I bypass numerous shops to get to the one place that I know has what I want and who I trust to work on our stuff!

I live at the edge of OC and they are my LBS. Where else can I show up and pick-up hose fittings for Hope brakes and Pop-lock for a Reba.

I do not even call to see if they have a part in stock...because 95% of the time they do!
