This has got to be the lamest excuse for not liking a bike shop.

Any bike shop that has decent beer on tap would get more of my business. Seriously Tani, I know it has been joked about, but this could be great for business. The downside is that a liquor license doesn't come cheap...

hey all,

crazy to see the response my not-quite-the-best shop experience got.

I guess some people missed the end where I said that I thought the shop was awesome, and will continue referring people to them, just that I didn't have the greatest first experience.

I know that there are a lot of dedicated Path-shoppers, and I know that the shop wouldn't have that customer base without great service, just wanted to share my experience in a somewhat constructive review forum.

And yeah, I guess I was a bit harsh when I mentioned the tech's assumption that I didn't know something, but when has anyone read a review that doesn't amplify positive or negative points??

Anyway I don't want to alienate myself on here just because I rustled some feathers. Peace all, and good riding.

I think you had valid points in your op.

No harm done.

I guess some people also missed the fact every time someone has something negative to say about The Path- they get slammed by 50 people! Who in their right mind would bother stepping up with an opinion knowing their head will be cut off!

How is Tani (or any other shop owner reading this thread) supposed to make improvements without honest criticism? Last time I checked, it was a thread devoted to the review of a BIKE SHOP- not a love letter!

Am I bashing The Path? No! Have I been accused of being a PATH Homer? Yes! Do I know for a fact, the criticisms TANI has received (in the past and in private) have resulted in changes that have made his business the runaway success it is today? 100% YES! Has he EARNED his success? YES! Are there more STR members who are less than pleased with The Path? YES! Are they afraid to say anything? Yes! Have they moved on to other shops? YES! Am I done for now? YES!

Tani- I will stop by on Friday for my special order item? Hope you didn't cancel my order!

I will admit my first time there was not the best experience, but every time after thats has been a good experience. I will admit that the only reason I went back is based on the raving reviews most have for the place. The customer service is 1000 times better then the shop where I bought my bike. I was more then happy to pay for a tune up there vs going back to the other shop for a free tune up.

ok hers my .02 , my first time in the path we were shopping for chewis, coiler whoever was workign (not tani) was a complete arrogant A-hole to us. This left a bad impression on both of us. After giving the path another chance a few times it has slowly found its niche with me. Where else can you go for random parts like crank bolts for saints or stops to run 1x9. I also bought my wheelset and forks for my 29er at the path so I guess they redeemed thereself. I do think the stigmitism form some of the Hardcore Path supporters might turn people off.

Go back and read the OP's post that started this train wreck. The fact that the mechanic told him something he already knew and .........well read it.

DeeZee- I read the post. I prefer to call my post a tirade. It's over.
Just needed to vent... on behalf of those who choose not to speak! It's all good!
