Default North of the Border Bikes in SD...

This place is great! It is a very small shop but they do an incredible job in their service dept. I think the guy that I always (only) see in there is Mike. He is an ex moto cross mech and he is a genius when it comes to bikes.

There is no attitude there and he can get you what you need at great prices. They sell high end bikes (Intense, Ellsworth, Marin...) He gives great advice and has never steered me wrong.

There is no one else that I would want to touch my bike, this guy rocks!

JJ

Been to the shop but never done any business there. Rumor is they are/were one of the best shops for custom wheel building.

That's what I've heard...

I work like maybe a mile away, but I can't bring myself to inject myself into traffic just to go there. I've really been wanting to check it out though.

The shop is the size of my garage but the people that work there are/were the best. Not much of anything on hand when I was in the shop. I agree the traffic isn't worth it.

Go in on a Saturday. Mike's a really cool guy and has loads of knowledge. It's just him in the shop, he bought his partner out a while back. But you're right, not much product in the shop. He will order just about anything you need.

Mike is an interesting guy indeed...parts prices are very fair, and he will sit and chat with you if he has the time... and service is good as well...I think he use to have a partner but I have not seen him for a long time...

Ya I have heard from a buddy of mine that he(Mike at NOTB) is a bit of a bike snob, but I guess he just has his opinions or moods like everyone else, he's always been nice to me...

I bought both my road bike and my mountain bike there. I like them overall.
